It was so nice not to have to wake up for anything today. I had a show last night, and had the freedom to sleep in today. I slept until 8 AM. It may not sound like sleeping in to the average worker, but for me that is 5 hours later than I have to wake up on a lot of week day mornings.

I am baking gluten free chocolate chip cookies right now. And drinking tea. It is snowing and has been all day. I am such an Oregonian, I don't know how to deal with the snow...Tomorrow we don't open until 7AM so I get to sleep in an extra hour and a half. YAY!

The language of letting go: Daily meditations for codependants.

"Most of us in recovery have engaged in denial from time to time. Some of us relied on this tool. We may have denied events or feelings from the past. We may have denied other people's problems; we may have denied our own problems, feelings, thoughts, wants, or needs. We denied the truth."

Tomorrow is my dad's 61st birthday! I can't believe my parents are getting that old. It is crazy how quickly time passes. It seems like just yesterday that they were turning 50. Anyways, my grandma flew into p-town yesterday and I convinced my dad to bring her by a gig I had at Tualatin Winestyles on their way back to Corvallis. As they left my dad gave me a hug and said "see you Friday" (I will be in Corvallis friday night playing at their winestyles and staying part of the weekend to quit smoking AGAIN)... little did my dad know that me and C are planning on driving down to surprise him for his birthday. It should be really fun. C hasn't met my grandma yet, so we are going to pack up the dog, her future great grandchild (hehe) and kick it for the day.

Things have been really good for the last week, a relief after the previous week. We have been really trying to work out our differences and meet each other's needs. I am afraid we will regress into old patterns, and the fear seems to put us back in that familiar dynamic. This morning (or, rather, this afternoon seeing as we slept until after noon) we had a little tiff, but we got through it.

We agreed to start over a week ago, even the score board. A few great days into this journey I find myself floundering, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have become accustomed to turmoil, and often I think I create it. Within my primary relationship mostly, but also in other parts of my life.

I am semi-uncomfortable with the calm. I unconsciously create drama and I am tired of it. My life can be relatively normal and steady, I just need to go against my first instinct most of the time. Initial reactions get me into trouble. As does speaking without thinking. Think first, wait, then say it. It seems so simple when I write it down, but it is so hard in practice.

I have faith, nonetheless, that we are both committed to getting through this and living our lives together.

Sept. 13th in Seaside with my family we had a fire. Corbin and I seem to have been enveloped by its flames :)

Your Score: ENFJ- The Teacher

Your Type is 100% Extroverted, 12% Observant, 6% Logical and 50% Structured
Your type is known as the teacher, or the educating mentor. You also belong to the larger group, called idealists. You tend to bring out the best in other people. You lead without seeming to do so. People are naturally drawn to you. You expect the very best from people which takes the form of enthusiastic encouragement which is so charming that people try their best not to disappoint you. You share your personality type with 3% of the population.
You need to feel a deep and meaningful connection to your romantic partners, and go to great lengths to understand and please your mate. Harmony is vitally important to you, and you often put others' needs before your own. You have a pretty thin skin and are easily hurt. Although you strive for harmony, when your values or ethics are violated, you can be very emotional, confrontational, and even punishing. However, you are very insightful about the underlying cause of conflicts, and an excellent communicator, so you have the tools to bring about a quick and peaceful resolution as long as you can keep control of your facilities. You want to be appreciated for your thoughtfulness and compassion. You need your partner to make a real effort to get to know you. Above all, you need to be able to express your feelings and have them taken seriously.
Your group summary: idealists (NF)
Your type summary: ENFJ

Life is fantastic and busy. My life is completely busy and crazy (what else is new) but at least I am having fun!
Just thought I would take a sec to update after many, many months.
There has been so much since my last update that I don't even know where to begin. Maybe later when I have more time...
